CCMC’s Kids Are Great Learning Center was created to meet the child care needs
of Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, Hartford Hospital and hospital
affiliated medical office employees. The center offers three programs: Infant,
Toddler and Preschool, providing services for children ages 8 weeks through 5 years.
The Center is licensed by the State of Connecticut, Department of Health Services.
Children in all programs are given the opportunity to participate in a wide range
of experiences from which to grow. It is our belief that such experiences must
be provided in a supportive and nurturing environment, be child oriented, be
“hands on” in approach and allow children freedom of choice
whenever possible.
Located at 17 Essex Street on the IOL campus, the Center is
easily accessible across Retreat Avenue from CCMC and Hartford Hospital.
- Hours of operation are 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
- The Center is closed on New Year’s Day, Washington’s Birthday,
Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
- Enrollment is available on a full time and part time
basis. Children must be enrolled a minimum of 2 days a week.
- The Center provides nutritious morning and afternoon snacks
as well as a varied lunch provided by Hartford Hospital. Families
may choose to participate in the lunch program or provide lunch from home.
Each program is staffed with degreed staff and others with an educational
background and/or previous experience with young children. All staff are
certified in Infant and Child CPR and First Aid.
Effective staff/child ratios allow for individual interactions between one
adult and one child, as well as small and large group activities.
