CONNECTICUT CHILDREN’S MEDICAL CENTER APPOINTS WENDY E. WARRING AS SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT AND CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

HARTFORD -- Connecticut Children’s Medical Center is pleased to announce the appointment of Wendy E. Warring, as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. This is a new position created after an executive reorganization plan at the end of last year.

Connecticut Children’s Medical Center President & CEO Martin J. Gavin, said,  “Wendy’s previous experience as Executive Vice President for the second largest healthcare system in Massachusetts and her past leadership of that state’s Medicaid program bring considerable new expertise and capability to CCMC. Ms. Warring’s appointment is another important milestone as we celebrate our tenth anniversary year of significant advances in bringing outstanding patient care to children and their families in Connecticut.”

As Chief Operating Officer, Warring will be responsible for ambulatory and inpatient operations at CCMC and off campus locations throughout the state. Gavin said, “Wendy will be ensuring that Connecticut Children’s Medical Center is continuously improving its ability to deliver care as effectively and efficiently as possible. As a key new member of the Executive Management Team she will lead implementation of programs and initiatives that will allow CCMC to continue to grow and be responsive to the needs of children and families in Connecticut.”

Warring, 50,  said, “I am excited to be in an organization that is so dedicated to improving children’s health and providing the highest quality of care to children. CCMC’s mission of caring, advocacy, research and education in the state’s only freestanding children’s hospital really sets it apart as a major health resource for kids.”

In her role at UMass Memorial Health Care Inc. over the past three-and-a-half years, Warring led the system’s strategic and master facilities planning efforts, had oversight of major systems operations and directed the government revenue office. As the Commissioner, Division of Medical Assistance, she led and managed the state agency that administered the Medicaid program in Massachusetts. Warring has also served in various legal roles, including as general counsel for the Massachusetts Housing Finance Agency, Deputy Legal Counsel for the Governor of Massachusetts and as a trial attorney on the New England Bank Fraud Task Force for the U.S. Department of Justice. Warring earned her law degree at the Yale University Law School and received her undergraduate degree from Brown University.
