FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: August 28, 2006 "DR. IRENE M. MCALEER JOINS CONNECTICUT CHILDREN’S MEDICAL CENTER’S UROLOGY DEPARTMENT" HARTFORD, Conn.— Irene M. McAleer, MD, MBA, of Simsbury, has joined the Department of Urology at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. Dr. McAleer comes to CCMC from Pediatric Urology of Central Texas, PA, in Austin, where she was an attending urologist. She received her bachelor’s degree in biology from Pennsylvania State University, and her medical degree from Ohio State University, College of Medicine. She also earned a master’s degree of business administration from Edinburgh Business School at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland. Dr. McAleer, a retired Captain in the US Navy, completed her urology residency at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD, and completed her fellowship in pediatric urology at the University of California, San Diego. She also was an assistant professor of pediatrics and surgery and division head in Pediatric Urology at the Children's Hospital, San Diego. Dr. McAleer is a member of numerous professional organizations including the American Association of Pediatric Urology where currently she is president elect. She also is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics (Urology), the American Urological Association, Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a Fellow of the Society for Pediatric Urology. |
