Having an X-Ray

Your doctor has told you and your family that you need to have a special test called an X-Ray. An X-Ray is a special picture of your body that shows how it is working.

Getting Ready For The X-Ray

Most X-Rays are taken in the Radiology Department with a big camera. It does not hurt and a member of your family can stay with you. You will either sit or lie on a special bed and the camera will be up above you. Sometimes you need to stand up for your X-Ray. In this case, there is a low stool to stand on.

When the Technologist is done taking the X-Ray, you and your family will need to wait a little while in the waiting room while the film is being developed. Sometimes it is necessary to take an X-Ray again if it is not clear. As soon as everything is finished, you and your family can leave.
