The 85-bed inpatient service is a general medical and
surgical service, capable of supporting step-down level
acuity with flexible nurse to patient ratios and
sophisticated cardiorespiratory monitoring and is located on
three floors, MS 6, MS 7, and MS 8. Each floor is supported
by services such as Child Life and the Family Support
Program. The eighth floor provides rooms for
"non-infectious" children, and houses our unique Chronic
Infant Lung Disease Program (ChILD Program), as well as our
hematology/oncology service and other immunocompromised
patients.
Each room is a single with its own shower/bath, providing
the patient rooming-in capability. The Inpatient Management
Team is available to admit and provide care to general
pediatric patients whose community pediatricians do not have
admitting privileges to Connecticut Children's Medical
Center. In addition, the faculty provide consultative
services for complex patients on both medical and surgical
services.
