Evaluation Research
Did your program or project accomplish it’s objectives? What is working in your ongoing program or project? For completed projects, how may the process have affected the outcome?

Performance Measurement
Which aspects of your work should be tracked or measured, and how?

Research Design and Implementation
How can the design of your project allow you to answer the questions you have identified?
  • Primary data collection
What new information do you need to collect about a particular topic or population? Should you use surveys, focus groups, interviews, observations or other research techniques?
  • Analyses of secondary data
What existing research information can be gathered and analyzed to answer your particular research question? Which information sources will best fit your needs?
  • Needs assessment
What resources (programs, personnel, etc.) are available to help you meet your goals? What are the views of staff, clients and the community regarding gaps in resources?
  • Participatory research
Considering the goals of your research project, who should be involved? Can staff and/or community members be trained to gather and/or analyze the information?
  • Questionnaires, surveys and forms
What forms would be helpful for gathering your information? Should they be administered in person, over the telephone, by mail or another method?

Data Management and Analysis
  • Database Development
Which computer programs could help you store, retrieve and use your information? What systems are cost-effective and adaptable to your staff’s computer skills?
  • Statistical analysis and modeling
What tests or procedures are most suitable for your existing data and the needs of your audience?
  • Reporting and presentation
How should data be summarized in a presentation or written report? What visuals (charts, maps, etc) would make your points most clearly? How might you present these findings to different audiences?

Training and Technical Assistance
Do you need training for any of these services? Do you want people trained in workshops or one-on-one? Do you need technical assistance by phone or in person?
