HOW COMMON IS BIOTINIDASE
DEFICIENCY?
Biotinidase deficiency is very rare.
Biotinidase deficiency is a rare metabolic disorder. Only about 1 in
60,000 babies is born with profound or partial biotinidase deficiency.
Although you may feel very alone having a child with biotinidase deficiency,
there are many other families who share your concerns. Worldwide, more than
150 children have been diagnosed with this condition because they developed
symptoms, and more than 300 children have been diagnosed by newborn
screening.
