Overview | Especially for Teens TAN, Teens Against Negligence is a youth group that provides peer education to Hartford area teens. Utilizing role-plays, skits, rap and poetry, teens educate their peers around the dangers of HIV and AIDS. In 2002, the group educated nearly 1000 teens and youth professionals. TAN had the honor of being invited to be a national model program by the AIDS Alliance for Children, Youth and Families in 2002. The Teen Help Line 1.888.322.0008 - is an offspring of the Teens Against Negligence (T.A.N.) Initiative. The TAN Help Line is open Monday-Friday from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm. The Teen Help Line was designed, implemented and staffed by youth who believe in reaching out to other youth. The TAN Line is for youth who want to be heard and listened to. There are times when youth want someone to talk to without having to worry about a face-to-face encounter. The TAN line provides just that - a safe place for you to be heard by one of your peers. The calls are kept confidential and remember UR not alone. HYHIL, Hartford Youth HIV Identification Linkage to Care, is a consortium of providers whose purpose it is to provide outreach, HIV education, youth centered counseling and linkage to care in a seamless way. The HYHIL Initiative is comprised of networks of medical and mental health care providers, faith-based agencies, community organizations and youth. Teen Support Groups |
