Injury Prevention Center is a program ofInjury Prevention Center Connecticut Children's Medical Center. The Injury Prevention Center was founded in 1990 and has become one of the premier institutions researching how and why children and youth suffer injuries, and what can be done to prevent them.

Community Safety Programs

SAFE KIDS Connecticut
SAFE KIDS Connecticut is a statewide organization dedicated to reducing unintentional injuries and deaths among Connecticut children under the age of 15. SAFE KIDS Connecticut works to prevent these injuries (such as motor vehicle crashes, pedestrian injuries, bicycle collisions, etc.) through a multi-faceted approach of increasing public awareness, providing education, and advocating for public policy changes.


Injury Free Coalition for Kids
Injury Free Coalition for KidsThe overall goal of our project is to decrease childhood injury by altering the manner in which two Hartford neighborhoods (Frog Hollow and Blue Hills) think about and approach child safety. In order to accomplish this goal we are recruiting and organizing residents into a neighborhood based child safety coalition who then collaborate with our staff to implement injury prevention activities.

Violence Prevention Program Violence Prevention Program The Violence Prevention Program is dedicated to reducing the rate and severity of intentional injury by and against Connecticut’s children and youth through research, education, community programs, and advocacy.

New To The Road
Connecticut SAFE KIDSNew To The Road seeks to reduce motor vehicle crashes of young drivers through scientific research, teen driver safety interventions, and promotion of driver safety resources.
