DOCUMENTARY MARCH 11 PROFILES CCMC PATIENTS

HARTFORD – A one-hour documentary to air Saturday, March 11 at 7 pm on NBC 30 takes viewers behind the scenes to follow three extraordinary patient families at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.

“Our Children: All Shapes and Sizes, A Documentary” is a fundraiser for Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. Viewers will be able to call to make a pledge during the broadcast, or donate online at www.ccmckids.org.

Dunkin Donuts is the presenting sponsor of the documentary. Two-pound premature twins, Sophie and Sallie Kritzman, born 13 weeks prematurely, face daily challenges in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and have a long ways to go before they can be discharged home to their parents, Debbi and AJ Kritzman of Simsbury.

The Beneski boys, of Avon, six-year-old twins, Seamus and Jake and younger brother, Eamon, 5, have a rare auto immune disorder that requires a weekend hospital stay once a month to receive intravenous therapy. Their parents, Tim and Cara, juggle a multitude of appointments with specialists and move in with the boys during their frequent hospitalizations, all with the goal of giving the boys as normal a life as possible. Adonis Brown, 15, of Hartford, stands 6’5” tall and wears a size 17 shoe. He is undergoing major orthopedic surgery that will attach an external fixator device to straighten out severely knocked knees so that he may walk normally.

Despite their differences in size and diagnoses, these children all have something in common. Connecticut Children’s Medical Center is crucial to their health and well-being.

Thanks to unique access granted by the families of these children to CCMC and the documentary videographers from Visual Concepts of Windsor, viewers will share an intimate experience as each child faces considerable health challenges.
