FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: October 4, 2005 DR. RICHARD ANTONELLI NAMED DIRECTOR OF CCMC'S PRIMARY CARE PRACTICE HARTFORD, Conn.— Richard Antonelli, MD, MS, of Sterling, Mass, has been named medical director of Charter Oak at CCMC, the Primary Care Practice at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. He also is the chief of primary care and the director of the Division of General Pediatrics for the Faculty Practice Plan at CCMC. Dr. Antonelli comes to Connecticut Children’s from his previous position as lead physician at Nashaway Pediatrics, a community-based, general pediatric practice he founded in 1987 that is affiliated with University of Massachusetts Memorial Health Care. He is assistant professor of pediatrics at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Dr. Antonelli received his bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Rochester, and his master’s degree in environmental health management from the Harvard University School of Public Health. He received his medical degree from the University of Massachusetts Medical School where he also completed his pediatric residency. Dr. Antonelli completed a certificate program in the Physicians Executive Program at the University of California at Los Angeles. Dr. Antonelli is a member of numerous professional societies including the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Ambulatory Pediatric Society, and the American College of Physician Executives. His clinical research has focused on measuring outcomes of providing care coordination for children and youth with special health care needs, and his advocacy efforts have focused on providing comprehensive, culturally effective, family-centered care for all children, youth, and their families within their respective communities. This process of care delivery is known as the Medical Home.
