FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: April 4, 2006 “CONNECTICUT CHILDREN’S MEDICAL CENTER SALUTES THE GENEROSITY OF WAL-MART AND SAM’S CLUB STORES“ HARTFORD, Conn.— In a special ceremony on March 28, staff from Connecticut Children’s Medical Center and the Children’s Miracle Network paid tribute to 30 local Wal-Mart and SAM’S CLUB stores for their record-breaking fundraising efforts during 2005. More than $312,000 was raised through numerous year-round efforts including the sale of paper "Miracle Balloons,” glow in the dark bracelets, coin collections and other events.Since 1992, Wal-Mart and SAM’S CLUB stores have raised approximately $1.5 million for Connecticut Children’s. The funds help purchase specialized medical equipment and support numerous programs at the medical center. As part of the ceremony, Connecticut Children’s Medical Center presented awards to the following Wal-Mart and SAM’S CLUB stores:
