Guidelines for Visiting
ENSURING YOUR CHILD'S SAFETY AND YOUR FAMILY'S WISHES

Please share these guidelines with your visiting friends and family. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask any of the nurses in the unit.

Visitors
At Connecticut Children’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, we welcome parents and

  • All grandparents
  • Friends or family members, accompanied by one of the baby’s parents.
  • Siblings, accompanied by parents.

Sorry, but nonsibling children under age 12 may not visit.

Visiting hours
Babies in Connecticut Children’s NICU can have approved visitors 24-hours a day, seven days a week.

Visitor restrictions
If families wish, they can determine the list of approved visitors. A parent must still accompany these visitors.

There can be only one visitor with a parent at the bedside at one time. There is a family lounge where additional visitors may wait.

Visitor access
To enter the NICU, visitors must call from the telephone outside the entrance and wait for a staff person to open the door. For safety’s sake, we ask you to sign-in and have identification.
