INFOLINE & SCHOOL READINESS PLANNING CHDC has completed its second year of mapping Child Care Infoline data with geographic information system (GIS) techniques for the Departments of Social Services and Education. State agencies then distribute the maps and other summary information on capacity and availability of child care facilities to 14 priority school districts identified in the legislation. Each
priority school district is provided with a planning tool kit of valuable information that
includes four maps and summary tables that highlights the capacity and availability of of
accredited family providers and center/group/headstart programs. A directory for each
provider or program in each priority district is also provided; this year we included
additional school district information for each provider and a summary table listing the
total number of providers located in each schools catchment area. We also compared
1997 and 1998 summary figures and calculated the percent change between the two years.
Highlighted below are sample maps and a summary table contained in the Hartford School
Districts planning toolkit.
