The Asthma Center at Connecticut Children's Medical Center
was created on March 1, 2001.
The mission of the Asthma Center is to reduce the burden of
pediatric asthma in Connecticut communities by:
- Helping Connecticut communities implement
Easy
Breathing©, an asthma management program for Primary
Care Providers.
- Creating projects to examine the epidemiology of and
risk factors for pediatric asthma.
- Providing clinical information for providers and
conducting educational programs for children with asthma
and their families.
- Providing infrastructure for the Hartford Pediatric
Asthma Coalition and building a statewide asthma
coalition.
Six Communities
To date, the Asthma Center is working with The Connecticut
Department of Public Health to bring Easy Breathing© to
these six communities: City of New Britain, Towns of East
Hartford and Manchester, City of Waterbury, City of New
Haven, and the City of Bridgeport.
