OBJECTIVES:
- Ventilation management; appropriate decisions and strategies,
which will
optimize effective alveolar oxygenation and ventilation of the
pediatric patient.
- Application of the HFOV Algorithm in the pediatric patient (>35Kg
ABW).
- Participants will examine how to best maintain a lung protective
strategy, through
combinations of alveolar recruitment, mean airway pressure, pressure
amplitude, and frequency, while balancing the benefits and risks of lung
recruitment.
- Identify genetic influences on response to therapy for asthma.
- How to determine when a change in strategy of HFOV is appropriate
for maximum benefit of patient care.
- Define alternative methods for managing the pediatric patient on
the Sensor Medics 3100-B.
